Each Christmas season (Saturday after Thanksgiving) a Christmas tree is set up in the main lobby of the Parish Center. The tree contains over 500 tags that read either “boy or girl”, plus an age range or teenage gift card. Parishioners are asked to take a tag and purchase a gift for that child. The gifts are returned, unwrapped, within 2 weeks' time.
In the second week of December, the gifts are loaded into vehicles and brought to the charity of choice. Since its inception, Our Lady of Guadalupe Social Services and Catholic Charities, in Venice, have received these gifts. They allow the migrant workers to choose, from the donated gifts, what they would like for their children. Annually, we give over 700 gifts and 80 plus gift cards for teens.
Parishioners are encouraged to give their time to this worthy ministry.
