Our Lady of Mount Carmel conducts a monthly food drive for the poor families of migrant workers in Immokalee. Volunteers hand out paper bags to parishioners after each Mass on the first weekend of the month. Stapled to each bag is a list of needed foods and related items.
On the following weekend, volunteers collect the bags from donors before each Mass and place them in the Parish truck and volunteer vehicles. On the following Monday after the 8 AM Mass, the bags of food are transported to Guadalupe Social Services in Immokalee. They, in turn, distribute the food to needy families.
We need volunteers, especially those with trucks, vans, or SUVs who can help load their vehicles and drive the food to Immokalee.
